"GET TO KNOW AREA" A science and technology park in the centre of Trieste? No, it is not a dream ... AREA Science Park moved from the Karst mountains to the centre of Trieste on the occasion of the 16th Science Week (13th -19th March 2006) announced by the Ministry of Research. On Sunday 12th March and Sunday 19th March the people of Trieste were able to find out more about the Science and Technology Park, its activities and its projects thanks to an info-point in the historic Galleria Tergesteo, in Piazza della Borsa, in the heart of the city. Surrounded by billboards and posters publicizing AREA, staff from the science park handed out information brochures to make visitors aware of research, of its importance in everyday life and of the small but vital role that every person can play by giving 0.5% of their revenue to research through their income tax returns. Particular attention was paid to children of every age involved in the competition “Drawing Science”: 5 basic themes (the climate, water, energy, the living world, and the brain) were suggested during the Science Week, to give their imaginations free rein.
